ARTIST INFLUENCE
TIM BURTON
Tim Burton is one of the most well known directors , writer, and producer. His style and story telling is iconic. With a style so distinct the adjective ‘Burtonesque’ was coined. From superhero films to macabre musicals, Burton has become a well known name yet to me he is most known for his stop-motion animation such as 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and the 'Corpse Bride.' In an era where new technology is being created, improved, and mainly used in the film industry, stop-motion animation was a thing of the past until Tim Burton was able to successful reanimated. There was no care or pressure from today's use of technology so the fact that he was able to successful create such iconic characters and stories is amazing. His usage for this animation is one of the reasons he has become an icon for me. As someone who loves to work in a more traditional sense instead of the usage of digital media, Burton has inspired me to stay true to myself and ignore the pressures of cinema- to truly create what I want and how I want it.
