ARTIST STATEMENT
Ever since I was young I always been fascinated with animations- my favorite being Disney's Cinderella. The most captivating scene till this day would have to be when Cinderella's dress turns from this shattered pink to this beautiful blue ballgown. There was truly something magical and captivating there that I became entranced with. Since then I have always started drawing. I started with princesses (obviously) to animals to still life to people. I had to learn on my own how to draw, but I loved it. It was a hobby. When I got older I was able to take some classes, but again, majority I learned on my own. I learned about anatomy, figures, artists, eras, and much more, but I never stopped learning. The more I learned, the more I came to find the art of story telling.
Storytelling is the essence of any true art piece or form. In order to be captivated by a work of art whether that be music, drawing, graphic designs, or movies, there has to be a story that grasps that attention. An emotion hidden behind the story that connects us with the audience. As humans it is natural for us to find some sense and familiarity with anything that we come across which is why the art of story telling is so important in any aspects of art.
Once I have realized the importance of this, I knew this is what I want to do and dedicate my time. Story telling in the form of visuals is something that I have come to love such as storyboarding. This branches from that initial love of the animation of Cinderella. The drawings, music, color, and life that was used brought out the true story of the main character.
There are so many stories to be told. How will you tell yours?
