WRITINGS

Art is a form of visualization created with the intention and purpose of expressing oneself and creating a story. The state of art can be interpreted in many ways, but the most beautiful comes from that raw feeling, whether it be the most basic emotions of happiness, sadness, anger, or fearfulness. That raw emotion then turns into a beautiful story, which is what art is. Art is a story by whatever means, but a story nonetheless. When an artist creates the 'story,' it has to have that meaning, emotion, and expression. When one looks at a piece of work, it has an interpretation and story for that one person and another for another person. Not one person sees the same thing because it has a different meaning and story behind the viewer. That is a beautiful gift provided by art by allowing us to answer the why of it.

Why am I drawing this? Why am I creating this piece? Why am I coloring this? Why am I putting a circle here? Why am I erasing this? Why am I doing this?

When you allow yourself to stop midway and ask yourself the question, why? You will enable yourself to present your work's meaning and, by that, create a story based on what you feel and think at that moment. Art, by any medium, is anything made with the intention of narrative, meaning, and feeling. It doesn't have to be expressed to others but created with that personal thought. My favorite work of art is those of the Renaissance, such as paintings and sculptures made by Michaelangelo, but also animation, specifically Pixar's Walle. It has beautiful visualizations and captures significant dimensions, colors, and characterization based on looks and drawings overall. But what makes that art is the story and intention behind it. Not the visualizations but the level of love: love between two robots or love for home. That intention, the story, and the emotion changed it from a visualization piece to a work of art. Anyone can paint, draw, and create, but not all can make art.

WHAT IS ART

While it is the overall view- the story itself, design is the first process in that creation. It is the basic foundation to then build upon. When creating, one must think of function, aesthetics, and, most importantly, communication. Any process to create art needs good communication, whether with other team members or in any form that translates clearly to others. How I visualize design is in the form of storyboarding. Storyboarding works for several art forms, such as film, animation, games, and more. That sketch of frames, characters, or pictures can help communicate with others effectively and have a clear and concise plan to create a process. Design is the beginning phase of any creation and one of the most essential phases of it all. Compared to art, design doesn't focus on the why but on the how.

How do I create this? How will this go with that? How will we be able to do this? How should we place this?

It makes more practical sense than art and helps keep one's feet planted on the floor. We can also dream big and want to do something creative for a purpose, but then we must ask ourselves another critical question: how? That is what design is about.

Design is that foundational form to create art, but it also can be the same for craft. The difference between craft and art is that craft has a more practical meaning. When we see art, we have this emotion that comes with it, and the meaning behind it. On the other hand, although craft can have some sense to it, the essential and more focused area of this is its functionality. It may look aesthetically pleasing and make us think or feel, but it must have some form of practicality. Many of these mediums or end works can greatly be valued daily. These crafts include jewelry, glasswork, pottery, knitting, embroidery, and printmaking. Some of these can be argued to be aesthetically beautiful, and such must be considered art. But then we pose the question of ‘can we.’

Can we use it every day? Can we wear it? Can it keep us warm? Can we protect ourselves with it? How can we use it?

That question gives us a sense of practicality. Some fantastic works of art can be made out of glasswork, such as when Christianity was rising, and they were creating mosaics. That had a meaning and a story, so very much can be considered art. But when that meaning gets taken away and instead becomes more of a practical use for everyday life, it becomes a craft. Craft has such a negative connotation, but on the contrary, it has a value that everyone agrees. Craft is something valuable because it helps us continue with our everyday life.

WHAT IS CRAFT

Knowledge is the information or understanding of skills and facts gained through experience or learning. Creativity on the other hand, is about creating those experiences of learning which can be further used to spread knowledge. Both are equally important factor in life. Both need each other in order to succeed in life. Knowledge plays into the role of distinguishing imagination versus reality. Knowing that, creativity turns imagination into reality. Creativity is an important factor that puts one's thoughts and knowledge together by serving is as a connector between goals and reality. In order to excel in creativity one must have knowledge on set goal. With that knowledge, one can then push those boundaries set, break the rules, and create something unique. One know what to push, how to do so, and when to do so which provides creativity with an abundance of freedom to do so.

Another key factor that most artist play between the two is in which one is creating knowledge rather than spreading it. By that, artists always thrive with creating 'original' work which therefore requires new knowledge of said work. Spreading pre-defined knowledge is not original and passing it creatively is just the same as spreading the same piece of information in one's way. But many artists now thrive with creating new stories, concepts, ideas, and information, but, again, one needs knowledge to create it just as much as one needs creativity to spread it.

KNOWLEDGE VS CREATIVITY
